Exclamation ESP light flashing

I have a new-to-me 2002 MB E320 and with no manual, as yet. I need to know what the ESP warning light is and why it is flashing. I'm also seeing a 1 Malfunction indication when I turn off the ignition. The Exterior Temp. and clock digital numbers are not showing properly. Otherwise, this is a super car, replacing a 98 C230 totalled in a broadside collision with a Suburban. All four passengers walked away with no injuries! MB, I love you!

ESP flashes when you break traction on the rear wheels. I see it most frequently on slick roads in winter, but it will blink whenever you get on it hard enough to lose traction. It is an electronic stibility program that is designed to keep you from losing control of the car in emergency situations. (Do a search here or Google for more info.) The other stuff sounds like something your dealer could identify and fix easily. Welcome to MB!

Thumbs up Thank you, Jayhawk

The gravel on my drive may be triggering the ESP light.

Coincidence? Your postscript quote, one of my favorites: "Don't believe everything you think," was on the bumper of the MB C230 that was totalled by the Suburban.

For the digital issues, you most likely will need to replace the instrument cluster. Search Ebay if you want manuals.
