Cool Water does not generally harm electronics

Dear Benz Lover,

I've had more than one piece of electronics rained on and several soaked convertibles because I forgot to put the top up. Having worked in the computer hardware business, I knew that water itself doesn't hurt anything, as long as the circuit is not powered at the time it gets wet and there's no salt or sugar around to make the water conductive.

The solution is to completely dry out all wiring, switches, and circuit boards that got wet. Then, put everything back together and power it up.

I hope that works for you.

I feel your pain. Last year we had an unual beautiful day in Dec. I drove my ML with the sunroof open and forgot to close it when I got home. (Parked in the driveway) The next morning when I got up it had rained 2 inches and then started to snow a couple more before I realized what I had done. I scooped out the snow, dried every thing I could , prayed (although I'm not usually the praying kind ). The sunroof wouldn't close so I moved it to the garage , where it should have been in the first place. Lucky for me, my prays must have worked because everything worked after it dried. I wouldn't try anything until it has a chance to dry. The seat were soaked so I put a fan in the gargage to help them dry out. It took several weeks for them to dry out. Good luck!

I slightly disagree. W208's are notorious for fried shifters when any liquid comes in contact with the (basically) exposed wiring although this does usually occur when the car is powered and in motion as you've stated.
ilovemybenz, post this on the W208 forum as many have gone through this before. Good luck

btw, I did the exact same thing last night. Car was in the driveway and I was sitting by the comp listening to the soothing sounds of thunder when all of a sudden, %$&*!!! I left my sunroof open!!! 1/2" pieces of hail in the seats but I caught it in time. They can put rain sensitive skylights in our house, why not in our MB's?
