Engine light went on and car just stopped while driving. I have 50,000 miles on it.
Can anyone tell me what's wrong? I have a friend who had similar prob. They finally had to sell car. Help!
yes, you need the codes checked, but for what it sounds like, the code may not appear for the exact thing that is wrong. Did the check engine light come on 'before' or after the car car stopped running. And, when it cut off, did it restart immediately, or after a short period of sitting.
Sounds like a faulty crankshaft position sensor. These units will shut down the fuel and ignition system, and 90% of the time, will not set a trouble code. You will need real time acutal values to see this.
Please post the resolution of your issue - - -I'm sure several folks would appreciate knowing the diagnosis.
Regards-
