Does anyone.....

use a 1991 300TE as a work vehicle? I'm in Arizona and drive 25K/year in sales, 90% hwy travel. I drove 1979 280TE (gray market) and a 1982 300T for years. I'm currently using a 1992 Volvo 740 non-turbo wagon, 140K, no cruise control, runs great but it's slow. I found a 91' 300TE, 150K, well maintained, looks and drives like new. One test drive and you're hooked. Other vehicles I'm considering are Camry (bland but dependable) or a newer, faster Volvo. I don't have time to constantly repair a vehicle. Thanks for the input.

The W124 wagon is a good vehicle, but I'd be a little concerned about using a 150K mile example for work. Something less tired would probably be more prudent. Have you considered a W203 wagon, something along these lines:

Felicita e un bicchiere di vino con un panino.

Does anyone?

I drive a 1988 300 TE wagon, eveyday, most times about 300 to 500 miles in a week. I use it as a service vehicle. 216584 and counting. Had the trans rebuilt at 104000. Runs like a brute, still strong, does not run hot, original engine components, other than distributor cap and ignition stuff. Stand behind the W124 wagon 100%.

I run a mobile maintenance and repair service for Mercedes cars and suv's. My 300 is a hauler, puller, pusher and grocery getter! Once I upgrade to a sprinter van for more room, I plan to upgrade the wagon and make it a 500 TE (fit in a 119 from a 500E), that should be fun!!

Happy Motoring!
