Pay cash, buy used, and buy from an authorized dealer that gave the car a "certified pre-owned" inspection and (no cost) warranty.

When searching for my Benz, I found used car shops which had what I wanted, but seemed shady. Selling all makes of cars, operating out of a warehouse, no service staff, heavy online presence / low showroom presence. Heck, one used car shop was in a town where the main street had about 15 used car shops on it, all the same sell-anything-they-can-get style.

Maybe those used car shops are a place to find a bargain that others would pass up. To me, they seem like a place to buy a disaster that was fixed just enough to look good during the sale because more mainstream dealers didn't want it.

Getting my Benz back on the road one step at a time

For people getting new car every 2, or 3 years the extra money might be worth spending to avoid hassle of selling used car, but I like to keep good cars, so prefer to pay cash.
And when I am short on cash, I sell my recyclable aluminum
Hi Kajtek, That is one sorry sight, what happend to all that Polish beer? If you ever make to L.A., I have a bottle of polish 180 proof plus sprit. Guaranteed to close holes even in socks. Also, I own my cars outright. Cheerio, Teutone (aka Horst K)
