The only problem with the 210 chassis is the rear window regulators. Besides that, the car is bulletproof. As with the "windows going all the way up, then coming down a few inches" MB's fix is to disable the auto up feature.

As said earlier in the post, the most important thing to owning any car, from any auto maker is servicing the vehicle!

Its funny, it seems that the thing that caused the most trouble with simple electrical items (such as the window issue mentioned a few posts above) was the integrated phone system. It was a 2 way, while most newer phones are 3 way. Once we had it completely disconnected, a lot of the little warning lights, window issues, etc stopped appearing. I think the window has done that once for me since we removed the phone, which is less frequent than when the phone was installed. I know the phone can't be a direct cause if the window still does that occasionaly, but it really did seem to help. However, I have read that the reason the window will do that is because it senses something impeeding its progress, and in case its a human finger or arm, it goes back down for safety. I think sometimes it is simly confused that the top isn't up (if the windows were rolled down prior to the top opening procedure), so if it touches the top while it believes the top shouldn't be there, it simply mistakes that object as a finger...

Once again, thanks for the responses, and any more would be appreciated!

7 series vs. 140

I have owned a 740il before buying three 140s. All coupes
I like both marques and they are two different animals.
The 140 is built like a vault. I am a big 6 footer and the front seats are awesome.
Nothing better.
The car has that presence, etc. and is rare to see on the road.
It tends to have more body roll than the bimmer, which is a very tight on the road kind of planted feel. Less power though, but the handling is more sure.
The 97 coupe has had its rear accumulators redone, but no engine problems.
The 98 740il had to have its valve cover gaskets done. Astonishing for 52K, but I have heard it is common. And something else gave out the other day: a forced air system polluted with oil blew huge clouds of white smoke (unburned gasoline) and I thought it was the head gasket. A $650 fix.
I am still adamant about both cars and hope to keep them for a long time.
