Well i think there is a really cheap way to increase the power of the C, the thing is u can do Chip tuning ( i think its called like this) reprograming a chip, or just replace it with a new one which gives ur engine different commands in order for it to increase horsepower. I think there might be a downside to this i am no expert, but try to do a search on this forums, i seem to recal alot of activity concerning changing or tuning computer chips of the cars. Hope this helps

Im no expert.

With a normally aspirated car, i reckon your choice of cheap engine mods is restricted.

1) fit an uprated airfilter (dont bother!!)

Most 'high performance' filters are covered in oil, which will likely find itself on your MAS (which is why i suggest you dont bother $$$) Also, the filtration abilities of these filters is questionable. Question: Why are they covered in oil? Answer: to catch debris. Why? they are very poor filters.

Without the 'catching' oil, the dirt will likely wind up in your engine. As i suggest dont bother!

2) chip your car. (not for me)

3) Remove the cat and fit a straight through pipe. ( great, but if you have emissions testing, then you need to re-fit the cat every time you need an emissions test) This will liberate relatively cheap hp . If exhaust surgery rocks your world great!

maybe good to check the chipping companies and see what HP they claim for your engine. If you want to drop £500 for say 9hp, good luck.

If it where me, then i reckon the best results could be had by A) removing the Cat, and b) chipping. In my humble opinion and as a guestimate i reckon you could get 15hp, or 20 hp

If it where me, and if i where cost conscious, then I would sell my normally aspirated benz, buy a forced induction job (for example a supercharged benz), then simply up the boost.

Thats my experience & 0.2.

Hopefully the other C class pilots can sort you out

good luck!

EdiT: you could try NOS
