Question about shock replacement.

I hit a dip in the road the other day going about 60mph and my 1990 420SEL seemed to bottom out barely. It happened again last week. I asked my MB dealer if I needed new shocks, he said maybe (duh...), maybe not! The car does not keep bouncing as I have seen other cars that needed shocks. My springs seem to be fine and my car sets correctly (back slightly higher than the front). What are you guys collective thoughts? Do I need new shocks?

If your shocks are original, I'd say definitely. Take the opportunity to install some real nice springs and shocks. You'll be very happy with the difference.
