Question regarding Cassette Player

I have a question regarding how many new Benz models have cassette players with a drop down door type function. I was trying to use one of the cassette adapters for ipod/mp3/cd players, which requires the tape door to be open, but my Benz began making loud beeping noises acknowledging that the tape door was open. I was wondering if there was anyway to work around this. Thank you.

Hi, I one W211 from the time when they did not have a single CD player, I guess an Audio 20 device with a CD changer and a cassette player with a loading mechanism. The car is now over 3 years old and it was the first time I tried the cassette player on the car now that I tested if it works with the door open ;-)
At least in my car it did not make a difference if I kept the door half open with my finger, after the cassette had loaded. Perhaps you have a different player and would need some trick with the "door open" detector switch.

1st look for a cassette adapter with a thinner wire. 2nd carefully squeeze the wire with a pair of smooth jawed pliers where the door hits the wire. 3rd if the door latches but the unit still beeps, insert a very small wad of rolled up tissue or something similar on the right side of the cassette compartment where the probe sensor from the door enters the hole with the micro switch door sensor. That will give you the extra distance you need to trip the switch and stop the beep. Be advised that there are very different sound qualities from different cassette adapters. Also if you want to do a nice job you can pull the radio out and snake the wire over the top of the radio and into cassette area for wire free hassles. Good luck
