Each wheel has a sensor to detect speed of rotation, not sure what it looks at, but one of the experts on here probably will know. Wouldn't expect it to be the wheel, coulda been buggered up when they put the new wheels on . . .

Most likely a wheel speed sensor or control unit.

If this problem has arisen sinse putting on the wheels it is obviously connected but not being an ex-spert I wouldn't know the answer, the singnal for these safety features is picked up from the gear like attachment on the drive shaft and a sensor positioned just above the gear wheel, on the fonts and, from the stub axle at the back of front wheel drive cars (A class) it will be basically the same on all cars with ABS/ESP how this signal has been affected I dont know. there is more information on my site

It is common for dirty wheel/speed sensors to cause the condition you describe.
