How to improve braking on a 560 W126?

Dear all,

the 560 W126 front calipers have only two pistons. I would like to fit some 4 pistons calipers that would if possible accomodate bigger pads. I wonder where I can find them. Would there be any direct fit out of other MB models?

Thanks in advance

GGR,
First let me say welcome. You should post this on the w126 forum. Some pictures of your car would also be nice!

Before spending needless money on calipers, try to upgrade brake pads first. I've had good luck with EBC brands (their "Green Stuff" and "Red Stuff" pads offer more bite than stock pads. The number of pistons does not correlate to stopping power; and bigger pads and rotors offer better cooling but not necessarily better stopping.

If you're set on upgrading check out StopTech (www.stoptech.com). They make bolt-on aftermarket brake kits for lots of cars.

Thanks.

In fact this is not for a 126 but for a W111 CoupƩ 3.5 project in which I am fitting a 560 engine and gearbox with a 6.3 rear end diff. I have the 560 rotors and need to adapt them on the W111 hubs. I know for having borrowed some that the 560 calipers will fit straight but I still need to find some. So, as I need to buy calipers anyway, I was thinking of going one step further. What a bout E500 calipers? Are they four pistons? Would they fit on a 560 (and on my car as fixing points are the same)?
