Yes it does!

Based on my history w/ MB automobiles, by far the most reliable is my S500/W220/2000. That may surprise a lot of nay-say'ers who bad-mouth the car w/out mercy, but it is absolutely, completely, true--in my case.

Don't believe everything you think

Seems like we had a thread about this a couple of weeks ago. W126's and the long living 300D's get my vote.

I know only about one series of vehicles, that after over 20 years still have all the vehicles on the road as daily drives.
The only dropouts are the one crushed in accidents.
This is 300D series from late 70's and early 80's.
I hope ML-series will be long lived as well. Our over 7 years old model got totaled few weeks ago, but I salvaged it for our son, so it is still staying in the family for... another 15 years?

I agree, the 300D W123 is a "million mile car." I would rank my W124 right up there, though. I hope to have as good luck with my 98 E320. The longer I have it, the more I appreciate the style. So far, it has given me a couple minor electrical probs. But drives fantastic.

1984 300D 225,000 miles (hit and totaled by bad driver)
1987 300E 209,000 miles (donated to worthy cause, still going)
1988 300E 240,000 miles (given to one of my sons)
1998 E320 120,000 miles (Obsidian, 17' E500 rims, sold to another son)
1990 300CE 129,000 miles (Silver/ black int) Daily Driver
2000 E430 82,000 miles ( Desert Silver 17" W211 rims)

My E420 was amazing. I sold it but regret it.
The most forward engineered Mercedes for many years: light, nimble, fast, responsive, a pure joy to drive. one big surprise.

Having owned three of the 98-01 range cars (CLK320, E320, C280 Sport) and three of the 88-93 range cars (see below) I will forever believe the W124 and W126 are the most solid and reliable cars to deal with. Electrically they do not fail or have 'programming failures' as is so common with the next generation of cars. I try to run all of my cars at least 150000 miles and to do that I take very good care of all of them with appropriate service. The later models just did not hold up. Once their extended warranties were ready to expire, I was more than ready to remove them from the stable as monthly trips to the dealer or indy were just not worth it. Now, I have two cars with a combined 375000 miles and the third (the 500e) going into a restoration to showcase the business.

Being smart is knowing the difference, in a sticky situation between a well delivered anecdote and a well delivered antidote - bear.
