Mercedes Bulletproof Glass Durability

Nice details on multilayered glass design, but AK74 is hard to stop :)

You are right.
In second police report they claimed that one AK and two 9mm guns were used.

As has been stated before, vehicle amoring does not make it indestructable, it simply is a way of holding off until you can escape. Looks as though someone off loaded a good number of rounds into the glass.

On a related note the United States Air Force has created a transparent aluminum that can withstand a .50 cal sniper rifle while weighing much less then amored glass.

Hi, to me this did not look like an armored glass but just an "ordinary" double layered glass which is primarily designed to offer convenience, low noise levels. I certainly have no experience on armored cars, can anybody really identify this one?

Transparent aluminum, interesting. Did they test with Barrett, McMillan ets.? It does not look like armored glass to me either.

RE: Mercedes Bulletproof Glass Durability

It is not armored glass, I just name the topic to address bulletproof glass durability in general.

Protection cars coming from assembly line for MB and BMW have 4B level european, which is 3A american level of protection.

Anything heavier is special order only.

From given picture if car would have been armored to at least 3A level large bullet holes would be avoided, but smaller bullet holes from AK would remain.

I don't know MB armored picing, but FYI BMW 540i Potection is 88K at US dealership and is sold extremely well.
