Electrical Problem

Dear Tech:

I have a 1995 MBZ 300S and I was driving on the Freeway when the Battery Check Light/Charging Indicator when ON. I pulled over to check to make sure the V belt had not broken, which it had not. I then drove it about 10 miles to my office. I then restarted the car and it it started fine. I then reved up the engine and the light went off and then came on again. What do you think is the problem? I think it mightr be the alternator

Thank You,

Al Amaya

RE: Electrical Problem

Probably the voltage regulator inside the alternator. A new alt will solve your problem.

RE: Electrical Problem

I can't remember exactly the years, but a lot of the alternators have voltage regulators that can be rebuilt using Bosch kits for a lot less than even a remanufactured one. I just did it last summer on my W124.
