RE: painting my interior

First, may I ask why? I think you need to dye the leather, just throwin it out there. If you spray paint leather im pretty sure it will degrade the quality and also look pretty bad. Sorry!

well thats kinda what i was thinking, but iv head that you can just buy stuff to spray or brush on. But ill do anything. Im going to be pulling all the leather off the frames anyway to put some new foam and seat heaters in.

RE: painting my interior

I sprayed the interior of my old bmw from a gay cream color to camel. I think it was SEM, that rings a bell. Anyway I bought it at the bodyshop supply place that sells automotive paint n stuff. It worked well on the plastic, but the leather (already ~18yrs old and dry) looked ok but within a year it dried up, shrunk, split and was ruined.
I've never had luck dying leather, I think maybe because used leather has all kinds of crap and conditioners/oils etc in it.
I also sprayed the carpet, it turned out kinda ratty and was stiff like a used paintbrush.

I also painted an old Ford interior, (no real leather) dash/doors/headliner trim etc. From monkey vomit green to gloss black with regular spray paint(I think VHT). I was surprised how well it turned out, it looked perfect and brand new. (The cloth seats and carpet I replaced)

RE: painting my interior

Don't be reluctant to use the term painting because most leather is painted. I have used Color-Plus on 2 911's, BMW M-5 and on my R-129 with excellant results. Go to the following site http://www.colorplus.com For all kinds of info about leather. So as not to mislead you the work I did on the above cars was on the seat bolsters using a spray gun and with the seat removed from the car. GOOD LUCK

Go to a local automotive paint store and check what products are available. I agree with the others-I can be done but you'll have to spray it to make it look right. I've used SUNBELT products on several cars painting dashboards, door panels etc with factory results. Many of the replacement trim pieces that you buy come in black and have to be painted or dyed to match!

I think there is a link to Leatherique, and how people have renewed their interior in the archives. Try to use the 'search this forum ' box on top right.
