RE: engine mounts

Call up your dealer and ask how many hours it will take them in labor. Then times that by at least $100 an hour. I know for my ML they did both engine and transmission mounts and they had the car for 2 days. I will look and see if it says on my sheet how many hours of labor it took for the engine mounts since we have the same engine it should be similar.

RE: engine mounts

I've changed engine mounts on 3 Benz's over the past 5 years. It is a standard repair and won't take too long to do. I am not familiar with the CLK's situation, but I can tell you that there are real differences between the engine mounts on some models versus others so be careful what you buy. For example, the mounts on my 300D were less than $100 each and were simple rubber mounts. The ones on my 300CE were a combination of rubber and metal(with compression diaphrams, so they were about $300 each.)[xx(]

RE: engine mounts

[8D]

99CLK,

The indie MB mechanic I use quoted me $500 complete: parts, labor, and tax. That sounded high, so I'll wait until they are totally shot before having them replaced. He said they are still good enough to run with, for now, and the reason the motor vibrates more than normal at idle is, there is no more fluid inside the mounts.

Cheers!

Dave
