Roof on 99 CLK convertible? - Help needed!
The roof on my 99 CLK convertible is not working. When I try to operate it, all the windows go down as expected but then that's where it stops. I hear clicking noises but the roof doesn't move.
I've checked the boot and the rolling canopy (where the roof gets stored) has come loose from the boot panel (a bit of glue will fix this). Is there a switch on this panel which means that it isn't in a certain position, the roof won't work? There seems to be a small switch on the right side of the boot (where the panel rests on rails) but I'm unsure if that has anything to do with it. Can anyone confirm?
Another thing I noticed, the rolling canopy rolls back on the underside on the roller at the back of the boot (versus the top side of the roller). The picture on the front of the panel (which tells you not to store luggage on the canopy) shows the canopy rolling on the top side of the roller. Can anyone just look inside your boot and confirm which way the canopy rolls when released as I'm not sure if this is affecting the roof mechanism either?
I'll try and attach some pics later.
Thanks, Matt [:)]
