Viberations

I have alittle problem, I let my brother drive with his girlfriend in my clk and appearently he not only burnt out (seems like he broke something during it) also, he broke my front license plate cover off hitting another car! Now the car is viberating only when at alittle higher then idle such as in drive, reverse, or acceleration from stops. Im not too sure what to do about the license plate it looks like the studs broke off in the bumper. Dumbass!!! any ideas why it viberates violently?

RE: Viberations

I could be wrong, but to me it sounds like he knocked the car out of alignment.

RE: Viberations

Is your brother still alive, or did you get to him already?[:p]

If it jams, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.

RE: Viberations

Well i have laid into him pretty well but evryone still has to understand that i have to keep him alive so he can pay for the damage. It dosnt happen at any speed, It is just when the car idles in drive. Kinda goofy. How much will this cost? and it comes through the sterring whell pretty well. thanks guys!

RE: Viberations

sounds like he broke the engine mounts, possible the transmission ones also. seeing as you have an older CLK and i am sure you drive you car hard and i know that the MLs mounts are weak and mine broke after 24,000 miles and i drive hard. I had them fixed under warranty both the engine and transmission where busted and my service advisor said i was lucky my cars under warranty he said if not it would of cost about $4,000(Very labor intensive took them 2 days with my car). It fixed my vibrations when the car was stopped and when slightly accelerating.

Also check your rims and see if any of them are scuffed sounds like your brother might of been trying some drifting practice and hit a few things, maybe he brushed a curb, you can easily bend an axle hitting a curb at 15mph. The forces of a moving car are tremendous.

OUCH! $4000, I'd hold his girlfriend until he pays up and do what you will with her.
