RE: My First Ticket

man...yer screwed...not trying to funny, but underage drinking, got probation, now a healthy speeding ticket...ante up the 1500-1750 dollars (VA costin 1980's dollars) and get the lawyer, DO NOT try to defend yourself the judge will throw the book at you.

To put this in perspective:

I got clocked and CAUGHT at 143 in a 45 zone when I was 17 in my (sorry for saying this here) M5 Bimmer back in the '80's. I paid almost 2k in lawyers fees and still had a hefty fine, probation and community service, however this was in VA and in the '80's if you got pulled while drunk, 9 out of 10 times they would let you leave your car and catch a ride home in a cab.

The cop said for 33 over its mandatory court appearence
Hire a lawyer and he will do the court stuff and get your diversion. You should not ever have to see a courtroom. I've been through this more than once w/ both of my kids and none of us ever went to court!

Go to the court, set it a day before a holiday or somthing so the cop would not likely show up.
exactly...try to schedule it just before a public holiday. Might work out!
Not really. Some counties in IL - when you see the judge first time - he ask if Guilty\Non-Guilty. If you say guilty - he will say how much you screwed. If you say "Non Guilty" judge will either call the cop, or will schedule when cop is available, or will schedule a jury trial when cop is available.

33 over. Assuming no construction\school zone. Normally judge just ask for a fine and will either give court supervision or traffic school depending on driving history. I don't think they will see other probation on the record - because they will pull only driving history. The only problem here - is age. Judge can try "teach a lesson".

Layer for something like this will cost 100-300$ and will almost guarantee saving the license.

I guess I don't understand why you need a lawyer.

Were you somehow wronged, assaulted, hoodwinked by an unscrupulous police officer?

I doubt anyone reasonably wants to afford a citation, but if it's your first and you were driving more than 30 mph over the speed limit- I'd say you're pretty darn lucky.

Step up, take your medicine and learn your lesson.

I was not running from the cop intentionally, I was on route 60 a very long(~14 mile)straight run of road from Williamsburg to Newport News, it runs parallel to the interstate.

I was just getting off of work from my summer job and wanted to get back home to meet this really hot blonde for some__[}:)]___. It was about 10:30 at night and not a car in sight, I was clocked by one county's sheriffs office and detained by another.....those cop radios really suck....when the county sheriff that clocked me finally got to where I was stopped, he made the comment that he "was not going to take pursuit b/c either A: I would eventually crash. or B: Too much paper work. In the end I learned a very valuable lesson: Ain't no blonde worth that much hassle... that damn bitch ended up breaking up with me cause dad put my ride on blocks for 60 days.....and I had to hoof it

RE: My First Ticket

No offense dude, but do you really have to push it so much? I guess I'm just reminded of my friend who got busted for 101 in his Benz, then a few months later got pulled over again for speeding, and now he's in real danger of getting his license suspended. What you do is up to you, but tempting fate... and the state partol... sometimes just ain't worth the cost in the end. I hope this one works out well for ya though.

GET A GOOD LAWYER. Because its the only way to fight the law. You will not be able to fight it off by yourself. A good lawyer will be able to reduce it to seatbelt violation or some other goofy shit like that. Trust me.
I got caught doing 91-in 40 Construction Zone, 1 year later, lawyer got it down to dissobeying a traffic device, 2 points. IN NYC

Good luck.
