420 sel Hesitation Problem

I have a 1986 420 sel that hesitiates when you first take off. Seems to be worse when the car is warm. Complete tune up has been done. I was told the problem are the lifters. any input?

How many miles? What was done for the tune up? Does the engine run rough or is hard to start?

Post in the 126 forum where you’ll get more responses.

RE: 420 sel Hesitation Problem

the car has 167,000 miles. cap, rotor, wires, fuel filter , air filter and ignition coil were replaced. The car starts fine and runs fine. As i said when it gets warm and you first take off it seems to not get enough gas and sputter. after a few seconds the car starts to go after you continue to give it gas.

Thanks for the advice for the other forum. I will try there as well

RE: 420 sel Hesitation Problem

If not done during the tune up check the condition of the plugs and wires. Less likely would be a faulty OVP, more likely would be a bad fuel pump relay. The EHA, which regulates fuel flow, may be faulty or one of the engine management sensors may be bad.
