How to activate and reprogram the computer modules

As you may have noticed in the W220 section, Im in a research process.

How is it possible to activate and reprogram the computers and controller modules in a W220 ? Does there exist a PC software that can do that - or is it top secret and for the manufacturer and dealer only to do ?

Did visit my car doctor who normaly takes good care of my W201, he was sitting tapping like crazy on his computer trying to communicate with a guy in Far East to get a cheap main computer for some french space ship car. Manufacturer wants 6.000 Euro for the computer, but he tries to get it for 3.000 Euro !

He told me they get 5% off such electronics stuff from the manufacturer, and then they have to return the faulty item. Gosh - how the manufacturers make gold on computer and moduel repairs/exchanges.

Well - he told me they have to activate the computer and modules, then program the whole thing - using a special very long code, which they get from the manufacturer. He also told me that they offen exhange such information with the dealers and other shops ( very unofficialy )- but that the dealer not always give them the neccesary information.

So having a OBD2 scanner dosnt actualy solve the problem, only indicates whats could be the problem. Still - officialy - only the dealer can activate and reprogram modules and computers.

Or what - what do you think ????

Every dealer in the world has same diagnostic system. So everyone already knows what the repair tool and ideal method is. Are you telling me that your car doctor doesnt know the method ?

So then I would assume that something so intelligent as W220 can confuse him.

Modz ... enjoy the difference.

For the gasoline cars, MB has closed the read out of the ECU units. Diesel cars is now open for read out with special tools like OptiCan
Using special tools like OptiCan Flasher - try , you will be able to flash new tuned software for the MB's, both gasoline and diesel.
