The Ultimate Pimped Ride

Saw this in the March, 2006 issue of GQ magazine...

Made me wonder if they've also done an SLK55 or have plans to do one in the near future.

I saw that car in person yesterday at the Geneva car show.

I think it doesn't look as good as the SL.

Sold: 1998 SLK 230K, Linarite blue.

Digit-Power: 30bhp + 50nm torque
Additional: Chrome side indicator frames, Chrome SRS badges, CLK grill, Lorinser Wing, Rieger headlight covers

RE: The Ultimate Pimped Ride

Fiskars is in Irvine about 5 minutes from my office. I see these cars all the time. They are truly amazing. But they come at a price - around $300K. The Kleemann engine modification takes you to 605 hp. But why not just buy an SL65 for $100K less? With the SL65 you get a V12 rather than a high-strung V8. That would be a deal breaker for me.

You have to see this car in action to beleive it. It is truly customized from bumper to bumper. When you see it, you can't tell they started with an SL. It looks totally unique. There is a nice article about this car in the February Robb Report. It took 11th out of 15 in their Car of the Year issue. Pretty cool stuff.

They took the SL and made it into an Aston look-a-like. It has potential but for that price, I'll pass and get a ferrari instead.

06' SLK 350, Iridium/Ash all pkgs. 6-spd, 19" DCR and other stuff

Ok, lets say you live in Irvine. Where you gonna use all that 605HP?

Move East young man. Take your new impressive ride to South Texas. Immediately proceed to the King Ranch and open 'er up.

That would be fine, except for all those Texans.

RE: The Ultimate Pimped Ride

Those that don't like us don't belong here, they just take up our valuable space. Funny a lot of folks in America don't like Texans, but it's our grit, determination, capability, resources, can-do attitude, demeanor, never-say-die mindset, creativity, generosity, kindness of spirit that's gotten this entire nation through a lot of problems. Namely, WW2, Korea, Vietnam War, you name it, we can handle it. We were once a sovereign nation that chose to join the USA, and we made it better because of it. Say what you will, we're just glad that detractors aren't here to pollute the water.

Just remind me how well you (knowing that in the end it was collective of countries that were dragged into the Vietnam conflict) 'handled' that one?

RE: The Ultimate Pimped Ride

Thank you Phill B for the question which I don't have an answer to as I must now admit that i was waxing a bit too Texas patriotic! Correction to be published tomorrow in Saturday's Dallas Morning News.

Cheers,
Walter
