when does 2007 start?

I'm looking at the CLS500 and like the bordeaux red
(I think...haven't seen it live), but apparently this car doesn't come in that color "in 2006". But when does
"2007" start in Mercedes Land? Maybe soon?

And is there a way to find out whether they will be going back to that bordeaux red color next year?

fyi, they are selling Barolo red which looks purple and not very pretty.

This sounds sort of hopeless, but I thought someone out there might know. Thanks.

RE: when does 2007 start?

Hey Irl, I agree, that Bordeaux Red was a great color. Almost impossible to find though, as Mercedes still likes various shades of grey for its cars.

When does 2007 start? Depends on the model. The '07 S550 is already out, and if introductions come any earlier, they'll be two calendar years in advance before we know it. Most new-year models still come out in early fall.

It appears that Barolo has replaced Bordeaux for now though, so you may be out of luck. Sorry..

Normally, the next year models come out during mid year. Like the 2007 models come out in the middle of 2006. (At least that's how it goes for US models. You get it almost in the beginning of 2006 in Europe.)

2002 Mercedes-Benz ML320 (sold)
2011 Chrysler Town & Country
2008 Toyota Camry Hybrid
2003 Yamaha V-Star 650 Classic
2002 Jaguar X-Type 2.5

NO. I think this works in the opposite direction. In Europe you never get the next year's model before july-august (even july is an exception). But in US you will get MY 2007 S-Class this month (Februar). This doesn't happen here and it's good because I think the other way is just fooling yourself. What is the point in having a car of MY 2007 in spring of 2006 while knowing it is actually produced in summer 2005??

I'm confused. What year is the W221 sold as in other places. Like in parts of Asia it's already available.

But, here I don't think you can buy it yet. Just order.

Please clarify this. I'm so confused.[V]

RE: when does 2007 start?

I was at one of the auto shows last weekend and was told that the s550 would be available by the end of this month as an 07 model. I was also told that although pricing had not been officially set that one should expect pricing to be in the $90k range and to expect a waiting list of six months for delivery! As for the norm as to new model year vehicles it depends on the manufacturer. Sometimes they will introduce a new model as model year xxxx a year before the current calender year. Mitsubishi did it with the release of the original diamante, Ford with the original mustang and so on down the line. I can tell you from my OEM experience that GM shuts down during the fourth of July holiday to retool for the next years production!

RE: when does 2007 start?

In the middle-east and some parts of Europe the 2007 S500 has been been selling for at least six months. On the coasts in the US you could get a 2007 S550 in Nov or Dec, if you had good connections. My dealer, in KC (one of the last places to get them), has one that they let me drive last week, but it was a "trainer" for dealer staff, and was going back to MB this week. They said they had about 50 on order w/ delivery beginning in the next week or two. Delivery on new orders was about six months.

Unfortunately not true. What they sell in Asia and Europe is the 2006 W221 S-Class. We got our S350 in November (it was one of the first W221 delivered here) and it is a 2006 S350. You will get the same car but it is called "MY 2007" without any sense.

The W221 S-Class IS the 2007, is it not? I was not aware that the W221 came out a year earlier. I know they had that car in the UAE last summer. What's up w/ that?
