I've seen those Universal Technical Institute commercials on T.V. I'd probably give them a call. They help you get a job, housing, and a few other benifits. Just Google it.

42 Years old. Senior Diagnostic Tech. Merc passenger cars only. Specialise in electrics/electronics. Love the job. Always challenging. Qualified as aircraft radio tech (boeings etc). Technology such though that motor trade now requires advanced skills at times. Motor trade more stable anyway. Many jobs available. In Australia access to motor trade still via apprenticeship . At the end of the day you need to enjoy what you do. The best part of job for me is locating faults which are not obvious at first. Like detective work. Great! 100k+? Not me mate. Income nowhere near that but make a decent living. Many tradesman though move on to become managers etc where the big bucks are, and the big stress. I think I will stay on the bench.

Must say have worked on several brands through years and merc still my favourite. Great build quality. Also get to drive latest models without paying for them. Hope this helped. G'day.

RE: Tell me some info about Mercedes Mechanics, salary info

I have a friend who is a mechanic at a MB dealership, and let me tell you, he makes a big fat paycheck. He has a home in a nice suburb, nice enough, above average.... but hidden in the back of his property is a huge shop, must be 4000 square feet, with televisions built into the wall, massive roll-up doors, all concrete floors, car lifts like at a car shop, the whole nine yards, and the building is FULL of Mercedes: old classics, oval track MB race cars, cosworth models, just TONS of stuff, all nice; it's just amazing. I said, "Hey, you can do some work on my car in here in your spare time once in a while?" His answer was, "Oh, probably not, this shop is mainly just for my hobbies". The guy makes about 150-200K a year, my guess. It's an educated guess because my other friend Steve is a Porsche mechanic for over 30 years, factory trained in Stuttgart, and he says that is a good estimate. MUST BE NICE!!

Please don't spill Champagne in the Mercedes.

Jamison, in the big cities, jobs tend to pay a lot better.
Which is one reason people live in (or near) big cities.

Partners in major law firms often earn in 7 figures.

And houses in places like NYC, LA, SF, DC cost a lot more so they even have to pay Mercedes mechanics well.

These incomes that you've all listed, $140K and up, are they representative of rank and file Mercedes mechanics? Or are they only the most senior master mechanics?
