Lauren did own a 1930's 540K special roadster, different from the "regular"540 K. This may be that car but I have searched and cannot confirm it.

1930 Mercedes-Benz "Count Trossi" SSK.

One of a kind, I think.

Hi Neil.

I think it's a very special, probably unique 540K Special Cabriolet C. The body works were probably done by Sindelfingen Werk. The doors are atypical.

It may be an Erdmann-Rossini, they had a similar looking 500K Special Roadster.

However, I don't think this is a roadster. They all had large sidesteps. It also lacks the roadster instrumentation, but fits a Special Cabriolet C setup. Looks like black Veigels. There seems to be no possibility for roofing. And no seat for ma-in-law. The exhaust manifold is tripple, if not a fake Titanic funnel.

Regards

Geir

Marsden is right about the "Count Trossi SSK": back then you could pretty much get your own bodywork put on the chassis if you had the money & inclination.

Yeah, and that explains the triple exhaust.

Technically designed by Porsche, and someone on the net said an english bodymaker did the body.

It might be a Bugatti Royale. If so it is only one of seven ever made. One of the seven was made without headlamps as the owner did not plan to drive at night.
