RE: 500SL which is best?
keep in mind the 90-92 do NOT have the wiring harness problems as the 93-95 models do. i have 143k miles on my car. it has had alot of problems early in its life. mostly A/C and convertible top hydraulics. i searched high and low for the perfect signal red on palomino leather SL. i paid more than i should've, but it has documnet mileage since brand new. it had one owner before me. i dont see what the big thing is about the 5-speed box. i have 4-speed and my car is peppy, fun to drive, and i dont see the big difference between the two. Yes the 5-speed downshifts easier and shifts a big smoother, but its not a reason to cancel out he 4-speed equipted models.
make sure when looking at these that the top cylinders have been replaced at some time. along with the A/C evaporator (a $1100 part) other than that, find the car of your dreams and be happy!
143,563 miles and still counting... well not anymore.. dead Odometer.....
