buisnesses are inflating there prices

Some buisnesses want to inflate there prices because you drive a benz.
When I was looking to get my windows tinted a few shops raised there prices as soon as I mentioned the word Mercedes.
For instance if I had a suburban they would charge me $100 to tint my windows, But when I asked them about getting my 1984 300D tinted they immediately raised there price to $250 for the same tint.
I've seen tow truck agencies, upholsters, and some repair garages charge more than double the regular rate.

Now I am well aware that these are german cars and they do cost a little bit more to maintain, but come on.

I apologize if this turned into a rant.

RE: buisnesses are inflating there prices

You aren't kidding! I called shops locally to see about having my driveline swapped out with a new one I had bought. A shop told me it would cost me $65 labor, I bring the driveline. Period. No word about "barring unforeseen circumstances..." ~I brought the car down to the shop...they looked at the car freshly detailed and waxed, looking all beautiful, they assumed I had paid a detailer hundreds to get it looking this way, when in fact I was nearly broke and had spent days doing it myself. "Very Pretty car", they said, as they mumbled about how "these jobs, you just never know how hard it is gonna be until you tear into them". They replaced the driveline and said it was much more difficult than they had imagined it would be, regardless of their Alldata computer program that they's used the day before when I called, ...and they charged me $215.00! I'm glad the job is done, and the driveline is perfect now, but I'm not ever going back there. People think you are rich just because it's a Mercedes. I like the car for its build quality and safety, and a little prestige is okay too, but it can hurt you when you aren't as rich as they tend to think you are and their hand is going in your pocket!!!!

Please don't spill Champagne in the Mercedes.

Yet another reason I'm trying to find a lesser-model S-Class with options. Try telling someone you can't afford something when you're driving around in an S600.

Okay, that was stupid. They're hardly gonna be full of charity and sympathy just because you're in an S500 [8D]

Whatever you do, don't move to a big expensive house in a nice neighborhood! Ha! Service people come to your door with dollar signs flashing in their eyes! Or so I'm told [;)]

Try saying that with an S-Class, period.

Guess you should go to a dealer, then.

BTW it's "their" prices.

You are ranting about something without checking what is it.
While tinting the window, there is always a risk of breaking it, or something else in the process.
Replacement window might cost $50 for Suburban and $500 for Mercedes. Front windshield for my BMW cost $1,300.
You don't want those people to cover broken $500 glass on $100 job?

You best bet is a shop that specializes in MB and higher end vehicles. I know what you mean about increasing the price. All the way from the guy at Autozone who asked me for a tip when he checked the error code on my ML to the "foreign" auto shop that told me "It starts at $70 an hour. We will look for the problem. Who knows how long it will take."
