Trunk Problems - how do I get in !!??

I have a 1999 Mercedes C230 Kompressor 4 door saloon. It has been stood a while - when I went to it yesterday the battery was flat, unfortunately, the battery is in the trunk and I cannot open it with the electonic release. Furthermore, the manual key in the electronic fob will not open the trunk lock, obviously I need to get into the trunk to get at the battery to charge it - an ideas would be greatly appreciated, cheers.

RE: Trunk Problems - how do I get in !!??

I recall a suggestion from a poster who purchased a device that would send a small charge through the cigarette lighter. The key would be in position "2" to energize the circuit. The owner then used the electronic remote key to unlock the trunk. Try a search for "trunk problems","trunk locks",etc.
Goor luck. [8D][8D][8D]

With old battery shorten the cigarette jumper might not work. Some models have 500 amp-rated jump post under the hood. Other option would be to get to the fuse box, eliminate the trunk circuit and jump it there.

I think that person finally figured out if you turn the key to 90 degree and push it will unlock. This of course depends on the lock not being screwed up. MB locks have the valet feature, you lock the tunk with a key and the release wont work. On a 99 there is a post on the front fender I think, call MB Road Aid, tell them you have a dead battery = No charge, unless it is bad then it is $150 and they come out with the radio code also, on a 99 its time

Spray WD40 in the trunk lock then use the metal key and try to turn couple times.

Do not spray WD40 in the Trunk Lock, because you will mess up the lock mechanism. I suggest you get a spray bottle of lock lubricant from a locksmith.

CAll the mercedes benz phone# in your glove box, they should beable to send someone out to help you with your car.
In my W115, and my W123 the phone# was in my glove box.
I have heard stories of how mercedes would send out mechanics to stranded motorists and the service is free of charge.

100% in agreement. It will eventually gum up the assembly.
There is a product called Lock Eez and all hardware stores carry it. It is designed just for locks.
