Hey sorry I love them ventilated seats! In summertime and on long trips it's just awesome. You never stick to your seats. Okay, I'm sticky. Or if you prefer, okay, I drive in the nude. Whatever. [8D]

Got to thinking, I misnamed the thread, it's not really a Mercedes dilemma. It's a car dilemma, or US-only purchase dilemma, whatever. (The Euro would be a solution but they're v.difficult to import.)

Because I bought a new Ford truck and had to get the optional guzzler engine in order to get the options I needed. Yes NEEDED!

Spent (all right, wasted) an hour or so last night trying to find a W220 with ventilated seats that wasn't a V12. Not a one. Whereas I think all the S600s had it. But I wouldn't drive an S600 across the country unless I owned more oil company stock.

About rear-seat A/C, I said "electronic" meaning the controls with digital display. Sorry I think it's cool!

108 Please don't jump on me for looking at W220s!
I was just looking, honest! [:0]
i get what you are saying. You just want more options and things like that to play around with, so that you wont get bored. I love those kind of things. Its fun to mess around with extra gadgets, and things like that.

My cars:

BLACK 1996 S500 (W140) - Sold

BURGUNDY 1989 560 SEL (W126) - Sold

Uhhh, my dad's friend's S430 has venitlated seats and the electronic rear climate controls.
I only looked at S500s maybe that's it? [:)]

But seriously, is it for sale? And did it come from the US SW? I have found more AVS there.

Nope not for sale. Weird how you looked at an S500 and couldn't find it, yet our friends' S430 has it all.

His S430 came from Germany.[:p] Of course, all S-Classes come from Germany.

He lives in Maryland. Bought it in Maryland.

Did he buy it new there? Because if so, it's the only S430 in the region with AVS I think.

I think so. He probably could have modded it. The guy's got a bagillion dollars. Who knows what's stock and what's not.

RE: Mercedes Dilemma

Cool. Well if you see a low-mileage S500 with AVS, let me know. OR, does the S430 get significantly better fuel mileage?

Of course, I'm crazy about the reclining rear seats too, and that seems to be S600 only. Maybe I should just bite the bullet, and not take it on long trips. I don't take long trips by car anyway, come to think about it. But who needs 12 cylinders for driving around town? [:(]

Where do you live? Would an eBay find be sufficient?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but you might want to consider the new Lexus LS460. Has a lot of options and is cheaper than the S-Class.

RE: Mercedes Dilemma

Yeah I know, I was thinking about the Lexus. Something not right about a Lexus for me though, not sure what it is. Partly the image, partly the fact that Mercedes handle better (tighter) and that's important to me.

Anywhere on or near the East Coast is game.

RE: Mercedes Dilemma

That's good. So how about eBay deals? Are you comfortable buying off of eBay?

If you want, PM me your location (city, state), and if I find one near your area, I'll let you know via PM. That way you can go check it out.
