Perhaps, but a 124 2 door in the shape he wants will probably still be more pricey than an equivilantly shaped 126 300 or 420.

Any of these models listed in this thread, you simply can't go wrong with! So he's convered there hehe

T
yea. the coupes are always more expensive. If he wants a coupe, he will have to get one in ok condition, but not excellent condition.

My cars:

BURGUNDY 1989 560 SEL (W126) - Sold

Im looking for another car this summer hopefully a mercedes if I can find a good one around here(ny). I will prob spend around $4000 on it and I am wondering what type, W??? is the best for my money. I am looking for good gas mileage(not diesel) and a more then average preformance. I can let the gas mileage go down if it has high preformance, and I also will want it very clean when I buy it, not one I have to fix up. Have any ideas as to what I should be looking at? I have a 190E now, and it has been VERY good. Time to go up to the next class...(or maybe a newer 190E) Thanks!
my choice would be a W124 300E or E320 after 1989... I agree with all the other members about that one.
(and I am keeping my eyes open for a good one as well.... in due time)

Yes, that's why I am thinking too, 1996 with over 1996 posts heh.

He should save longer to get a really nice car. It's been said before and I'll say it again, "there's nothing more expensive than a cheap Mercedes", it's so easy to fall in love with a cheap car that's attainable, you plunk down the cash and regret not listening to your sensible side and waiting for the trim level you really wanted or the quality you knew you should have waited for.

I saved two years for my car and I don't regret getting it - it costs more than a new Neon or Cavalier or whatever. So yeah, there were options but nothing beats a 126 or any other 1990 and down vintage MB.

yup 1996 posts.

I know what you mean. a cheap merc is great. And it is also kinda cool to improve it yourself. It makes even prouder that you own an MB. I really like the pre 1990 MB's as well. they are the first cars that come to you when you think of mercedes benz.

RE: What kind of Merecedes???

I think I'm going to look for a nice 124 coupe, and until I find it I'm going to keep saving. So when I do find one(please let me find one) I will have enough money for a nice one and some extra for everything with it. (i.e. gas, insurance, upgrades(euros and stuff), and repair money if it ever gets fussy) Thanks for your help guys!

P.S. Do you know if the insurance would be similair between a 190E and a w124?

P.P.S What is the title of the w124 coupe..like the 201 is the 190E?

If it jams, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.

RE: What kind of Merecedes???

The coupe should be roughly the same as the 190E for insurance standards - all MB's are expensive to repair body wise in their eyes.
