I got into a fender bender recently and I had to get my right headlight replaced.
I don't think my headlights were like this before but now my right headlight is aimed higher than my left headlight. Because of this, the left (stock) headlight hits the street about 10-15 feet ahead and the right (replaced) headlight hits the street about 15/20 ahead.
Is there an easy way for me to adjust my headlights myself? What do you think is the ideal distance at which the headlight illumination should touch the ground?
I would think that you would want the illumination to point out as far as possible up until the point that the illumination would not be at full strength. What have you found to be the usual max distance at which you can point the headlights?
Dude... once again... what are you driving? if's it's a 123 as your name would suggest there are two knobs behind the headlamp assembly. One for up and down and the other for right to left. Drive the car up to a wall on a flat surface.... and tinker with it till you get the one that's messed up level with the other one. Sorry I don't know the specifics on how to do this but I know that much. Later models adjust much the same.... but the big mystery here is..
Whatcha Drivin Dude?
Laters,

NOTE:....Your fender bender might have something to do with why your SRS light is coming on....
When you say there are two knobs behind the headlight assembly does that mean that I will have to remove the headlights in order to access the knobs? If not then where exactly can I access these knobs?
My SRS light was actually on a few days before the wreck. When I picked up my car from the body shop the SRS light was no longer on so I am guessing that the body shop made the necessary adjustments. I have had my car out of the shop for a few weeks now so I don't think that the SRS light coming on now has anything to do with the fender bender.

BTW - I drive an '05 C55.
AMG..... now that I know what you drive I think you will need to just disregard what I said. There's probably some kind of similar adjustment but I haven't a clue where. Doesn't your AMG most likely have xenon headlights? And if so I thought there was some kind of motor/servo mechanism that kept them in line with the level of the car...etc. Might try searching on the "auto leveling headlamps" ... I just did and I see some info there. Might try searching under that parameter. If you do have auto leveling headlamps, which I'm pretty sure you do.... then you most likely have some kind of problem with the motors in the headlamp unit... or the controller. But I'm completely ignorant in this area. Try searching under this and it may get you started on finding an answer. Good luck and sorry I couldn't be of more help. Back to work now...:)
