RE: Parents buying cars for son / daughter

Am,

Since you say that you had 'the crustiest toilet paper' when you grew up, I think we have all seen the results of that when you posted the pictures of your posterior that has everyone so upset.

On the serious side, to me, I really don't see any difference in 'that' picture of a sorely abused rectum and the proliferation of the 'fucking' this and 'fucking' that language that is so common on this board.

I absolutely abhor censorship and I don't want to make an enemy here but it would seem to me that folks who drive the best cars in the world would not use the same language as common ghetto-dwellers.

Shakespeare says "A rose by any other word would smell as sweet" and that is true so, an asshole by another name would still be what it is.
The word 'fuck' and 'fornicate' mean the same thing but the former somehow belittles and diminishes the utterer, in polite circles.

I made an earlier post about how a picture or bad language doesn't frighten or even insult me. I have been in the 'black holes of Calcutta' and heard and seen much worse. However, bad language always lowers everything to something less desired.

Does anyone else feel this way?

Again, Am, I don't want to make an enemy of you, I just wanted to voice my opinion.

Joe

I thought you might find it interesting that the word "fuck" didn't start out as a bad word. It's actually an acronym.

In medieval England, commoners needed the King's (or his representative's) permission to procreate. When engaged in said activity, it was customary to post a sign on the door, thereby demanding privacy. The sign would usually say : "Fornication Under Consent of the King".

This is no joke whatsoever.

We had the crustiest toilet paper, like sandpaper, the heater never went on in winter for more than five minutes. It would be freezing outside, and youd come home with your mates and as soon as you walk inside, you notice you can still blow steam out of your mouth!!
Let me guess, you had to walk 7 miles to school, through the snow, uphill both ways.

Flyboy,

I think that I had read that at one time or something similar.

Nevertheless, "Am", I shouldn't have singled you out as I have seen the same from some of the moderators and it really hurts the image of 'professionalism', in my opinion.

When going in for much needed brain rearrangement, if my physician said to me: Well, Joe, we are going to arrange your fucking brain so that little things such as words don't mean fucking shit to you, I think I would get off of the table and save my money.

I don't get offended that easily.

It detracts from you and the board but do as you please.

Just out of curiosity, do you speak that way in front of your mother?

RE: Parents buying cars for son / daughter

My dad got me my w140 on the condition that he would buy the car and I would pay for the work that was done on it. His final advice was "remember that jag (1984 daimler xj6) that always was in the shop" and "if this thing dies I dont want it in my driveway"

My dad also got me my first car that was the princely sum of 900 bucks and was a real shitbox. I think its a good idea for a kid to get a crap car as their first because then perhaps you can know the true value of things.
