380SL trunk latch mechanism

Can anyone tell me where I could perhaps find a new or used trunk latch mechanism for my 1983 380SL? I don't need a new lock, just the latch housing mechanism where the trunk hooks on to then it closes.

Thanks!

Vinny

Are you having trouble closing your trunk?

If it jams, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.

RE: 380SL trunk latch mechanism

The hook on the latch has gotten some "play" through the years and so when I try to open the trunk via the key (when the car is locked) by turning counterclockwise, it slips and therefore does not open.

See your dealer for this, the latch is not that expensive.

RE: 380SL trunk latch mechanism

I had the same problem a couple weeks ago. Just use a screwdriver to put it in the right position and it works fine. Unless, of course, you have so much play it wont stay there...if thats the case, see above post[:)]

If it jams, force it. If it breaks, it needed replacing anyway.
