'92 190E radio code problem - too many digits!

I just purchased a used OEM radio for my '92 190E. I have the serial no. for the radio and contacted my MB dealership for the security code. By using the serial no., they could only get a 5-digit code, while the radio requires a 4-digit code. Has anyone heard of this problem or know how I can get my 4-digit security code?

Radio model CM2191 (made in Japan) from a '91 190E. Exact same model as my original radio in my '92 190E.
S/N: AL2191A0947058 or C20947058 (both numbers result in a 5-digit code).

Please reply on the forum or contact me at dlreid[at]comcast[dot]net.
