OBDII says EGR is bad but it's not. Help...
99 CLK320; I keep getting a check engine light and my OBDII reader reads P0400 (EGR). I cleared it but it always comes back. I pulled the EGR valve and it is in perfect working condition. WTH? I cleaned it and the tube anyway and reinstalled. So what else could trigger that code, or better question is how the heck does the computer know the EGR has failed anyway? There are no sensors attached to it... [?] The solenoid valve controlling it works perfectly.
Car has 80K miles, runs super clean, EGR is the original unit.
