Electrical scare

This just happened on my way to Bible class this evening. I have a 79 300D with 154K on it. I'm the second owner and it was maintained perfectly before I bought it. I've had it a year and have had a MB mechanic doing all the maintainence on it. Tonight I turned on the turn signal and the gas guage pegged to the left and the temp guage bottomed out. No turn signal and no brake lights now. I suspect a short to ground somewhere but I hope this is another of the neat "quirks" with my car. I hope I'm posting this in the correct forum. I'm new as of tonite. I appreciate any help I can get on finding this problem.

RE: Electrical scare

You should post in the w123 forum.

For MBs of this era it is best to replace all the aluminum fuses with brass/copper fuses. Check to see if fuse 12 is blown when replacing, the items you mention are all on that circuit.
