RE: Where can I find a scale model of my car?

Most Minichamps models sell out quickly since they are made in very limited numbers. Another thing is that most of their late model cars are made as dealer promotions and generally are not for sale through their retail channel or even listed on their web page or catalogs.

http://shop.store.yahoo.com/europromo-store/index.html

This is the best source for getting these promotional models but they can only get small numbers of them usually from automotive trade shows and their inventory of models sell out quickly. I have learned from past experence that if I think I want one, its best to just buy it as soon as its announced because some of them sell out on pre-order and I can always sell it on eBay if I don't like it after I get it.

Check out the rare 1:18 SL500 they have listed. The seats are covered in actual leather and the top and trunk lid along with the flipping rear window function as close to the original as can be done within the limits of a model.

Minichamps rarely makes anything in 1:18th and usually in that scale they are strictly created at the request of and for sale only to the actual car builder so you won't find them for sale here in North America from anyone else. The SL500 first appeared in Silver during the cars actual introduction and was sold at only a few Mercedes dealers here and for a premium price since the dealers were only able to get them through Mercedes with their usual parts price mark up. There is a 1:18 R class model due here some time that should be equal to their model of the BMW X5 series. Both the SLK350 and SL500 are also available in 1:43 with working tops as well.

BMW generally commissions models in 1:18th for almost every model in their car line. I wish Mercedes did the same.

Potato Chip, custom canuter valve, low-friction muffler bearings, synthetic turn signal fluid, Hi-Definition Progressive Scan Wiper Blades.

Nice! That 1:18 500SL model is the size and level of detail I'm looking for. Even 1:24 scale would be OK.

I checked out the website you pointed to. No luck.

Please let me know if you happen upon a 300CE Cab or even an E320 Cab at the scale I want.

Cheers!

Dave

Dave,

If 1/24 scale is OK, then there is this possibility:

I can make a convertible out of this one for you, if you send me a bunch of good photos, it will be pretty close by the time I'm done with it.

RE: Where can I find a scale model of my car?

Stumbled across this via Google.

I'm looking for a W124 wagon at 1:43 scale to finish my collection. I am hoping there is one to match the W211 and W210 wagons in the silver/black striped packaging. I bought the W211 model from the Benz museum in Stuttgart last summer and found the W210 on eBay over Christmas.

I'm not sure who made these models, which makes searching difficult. I'm guessing they are THE official models since the museum carried them. Does anyone have any clarification? Did they make a W124 (and older) wagon model at 1:43 scale? Thanks!

There isn't one, only 1:43.

Being a diecast fan, if anyone wants to find a diecast model of their cars, please, let me know. I am very knowledgeable of my sources.

The largest maker of the W124 E-Class was Minichamps aka Paul's Model Art.

They have a very wide selection, but unfortunately for some demands, their models mostly come in 1/43 scale.

Mercedes had commissioned the W221 to famous maker AutoArt. Although, it's commented that it isn't of quality that AutoArt is known for. And it is indeed in 1/18 scale.

Unfortunately, if you drive a CLK the only model you're going to find of your car is a POS from some low end die cast model maker. Oh, and did I mention that it's only available in one color, midnight blue. That is, if you have a w208.

There are w209 models and even then I think they are convertibles available from Kyosho, they make great models. Someone out there needs to make a damn decent w208, it's a lot more timeless and mean, and less...'bubbly'
