Extended Warranty Question

Hi. I hoping someone can answer this questions for me:

I've just bought an 2000 ML320. The previous owner bought the extended warranty on it. So there's just under 2 years remaining on it.

So now, the dealer is asking me to pay to get it transfered to my name. The cost is $400.

Lets say I don't pay this cost... will I still be able to get the car serviced under warranty based on the VIN or something?

I just think this is a crazy amount to pay for transfer a warranty.

RE: Extended Warranty Question

I thought those things were transferable. At least that is what I think my dealer told me when he said it would be a good selling point if I ever decided to sell my car...

RE: Extended Warranty Question

I looked at my policy, and it said nothing about "fee", of cours this is MB USA. I would check with MB Canada, it says that the new ownner must send in a card from the origional dealer or any participating dealer and within 15 days of the vehicle transfer.
My brochure says if you sell yor MB to a private party its new owner can transfer with "no fee" but see your retailer for detais
