Battery tender question?

My S55 will be laid up for 3-4 months this winter. I intend to purchase a quality battery tender with cigarette lighter adaptor instead of alligator clips.

I know this is probably a dumb question, but here it goes......Where do I run the cord to the tender? Do I crack window enough so cord fits? Do I open window all the way? Varmits have never been a problem, but on rare occasions a field mouse has found its way into the garage. I guess the door opening is out of the question because of the auto closer feature. I precluded the trunk and direct connect for the same reason.

Does anyone have a better way?

RE: Battery tender question?

MB had a kit, that put a cigarrete ligher type jack in the inside fender liner hooked to the battery. You plugged it in and closed the lid, the weatherstip in the lid kept varmits out. I would immagine you would leave the little transformer in the tunk and just run out the AC cord. Throw a cat in there but you would have other issues. I think the alligator thing would work, since the cigarette thing would require you to keep the ignition on lighther (DOES NOT WORK WITH IT OFF). We have lots of cars in FLA for months, up to four months I did nothing, some pull the lead \. Then you have the other issues

RE: Battery tender question?

Run the cord out of the window and stuff the remaining opening with a towel.

RE: Battery tender question?

I agree with Peter ... i have an sl55 ...it is already in storage...i have MB battery trickle charger...you can wired to the battery terminal and plug in the charger and close the trunk in fact lock the car ...the charger does the work...in spring/summer unplug the charger ...
