1986 190e Motor exchange

Hello: I'm new to the forum and have a question. Can you put the m103 inline 6 into a 86 190e 2.3. I've heard you can do this on models 1989 and above. Just wanted to check with you guys and get your thoughts on the matter. My current engine runs fine other than the small oil leaks. Head gasket probably bad. I really think the bigger motor would be a kick.. Thank you.. JS

You will have to replace the radiator and a/c condensor, the radiator support and fans. You will also need to change the front springs for the additional weight; the a/c system will be different, as well as the engine electronics. Considering the time and expense, you may as well just buy a used 2.6L 190E . . . or if you're dead set to do a swap, go all the way to the 3.0L M103 or the twin cam M104.

I was at Motorwerks this summer and they had a project modifying a w124. Cant remember what they were putting in, but it looked impressive.
