RE: MB Parts at Discount: Share your Sources!
You'd be suprised how much stuff you can get at the local auto parts store. At Kragen, I can order Mann filters for oil, gas, air, and even the power steering. Elring filter and gasket for the transmission, Elring valve cover gasket. Laso water pump, Bilstien belt tensioner. It's amazing how many oe parts can be found with a little searching. And most bosch parts are available as well. You just have to do some research, Kragen (aka shucks and checkers) use a company called beck/arnley for a lot of their import car part stuff. This will usually result in beck/arnley getting the product from one of the smaller european part networks. Don't bother with the counterkid (although some of them know a lot more than you would think) by making sure it's a Mann, they won't know. Just order it, if it's some bizarre brand or something, you can always return it.
The local auto parts store has really evolved, but very few people know it. While they can easily grab a PH30 for a 68 big block on hand, they can usually order a lot of maintenence items and sometimes repair items. Just try it out.
