Is it bad to....

Heya all, please give me the benefit of your experience...

Is it bad to take your mercedes benz to a dealer for service - where you did NOT buy the car from?

I.E. is it better to have your benz serviced at the dealer where you bought the car?

My dealer sucks - and I am wondering if now it sucks for me forever...

any insight would be appreciated....

I think it may be better to service it at the dealer you bought it from, because the dealer has had it some time and has inspected it before selling it to you. They know your car already. It all depends which dealer you like better.

I would think it best to take your car to the dealership that provides the best care for both you and your car.

Although dealers get reimbursed for warranty work to some extent, I doubt that they compare notes. Accordingly, do what's right for you - - not the dealer!

If you have been at a MB dealer for service, your car is in the MB database and a new dealer should know as much about your car as the old one, so it really shouldn't make a difference except to you. If you would be happier w/ a new guy go to the new guy. They may even "reward" you for changing to them by giving better service.

Have you thought about the possibility that the new guy may be worse than the old one?

Hey, Atoche.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: no dealer can compare to a good indie. But guess which is harder to find?

However, during the warranty period you're stuck for the most part. I'd say go to whichever one you like best.

At least you have a great car either way, right? Not like you have to pick a Hyundai dealer. [:D]

Take care and enjoy the ride,
