RE: Favorite Mercedes Benz's Ever??

I'm a bit of a newbie to Mercedes Benz, I know some information about the current models, and the classics (450SEL 6.9, 600 Grosser) But mainly I know Cadillac, and Lincoln very well. I am looking forward to expanding my knowledge into this brand, and look forward to your insights, reviews and knowledge.

Thanks Again -Chad

RE: Favorite Mercedes Benz's Ever??

I have a bunch of personal "favourites", but when I consider initial purchase price, cost-of-ownership, styling, and practicality for frequent use, the two models that my mind keeps wandering to are the 190SL and the 220SE Cabriolet.

1971 280SL forest green/saddle leather interior.
I was a parking valet and the "dude" that bought it in 1975 paid $6,000 USD for it.
I thought he was a fool, even though it was a very nice car, and he paid too much.
So much for my keen assessment of value.
when I cared more about who I was dating than what to do about retirement accounts.

can anyone explain to me how the W--- numbers work? This is a type of system i am unfamiliar with. I understand that the W126 includes the 81-91 SEL,SEC, but can anyone give me a list of all the W codes and what models they include? That would be a great help!

So what exactly makes you think that I can never afford a Benz? You don't know me, you don't know how much money I have. You don't know my plans. So don't prejudge me because I don't yet own a Mercedes? I'm only 18, so a Mercedes is out of my reach right now, but that doesnt mean I cant get one after college.
