Why did you buy a Mercedes Benz?

As for me, I was set to buy a 1997-98 Corvette. Then one day I went to a GM sponsered event called Auto Show in Motion. The event is where you drive an array of GM cars plus their competiton. That's when I drove a 2004 C320 and fell in love with it. One thing that has always bothered me with the Corvette is that the car does not age very well.

Just to make sure, I also test drove a C230 & C240 and it confirmed that the C320 was the right choice.

2 months and 15 cars later, I found mine, a 2001 C320 with 2817 miles. He was asking $28K, I talked him down to $26K.

I am very happy with the Mercedes and would not hesitate to buy another.

RE: Why did you buy a Mercedes Benz?

I was going to by a 350z. I ask the sale person about the safety features of the car. His reply was "Nissan would not put out a car that wasn't safe". Hmmmmm. That's way more information than I could handle!! [:)]

Actually I took a 5 day trip with a friend to Northern California in her E430. I was very impressed with the ride, quality and comfort. I was sold..hook, line & sinker..

The luxury, reliability, range and fuel economy (Diesel), class, and most importantly its not something that you see a thousand of every freakin day.

RE: Why did you buy a Mercedes Benz?

$3.30 a gallon diesel got me looking for a daily driver over my '04 F250 King Ranch.

My father always owned Benz's ('72 280SL, '73 280SE 3.5, 380 SEC, 500SEC), and it's a natural progression for me to get into the MB family.

I immediately looked for a MB diesel - was awfully glad to find a 1995 E300D in excellent condition.

Still seems new but has the old MB feel.

RE: Why did you buy a Mercedes Benz?

They have been "gnawing at me" since I was a parking lot attendant MANY years ago (1971),
driving brand new 230/280 SL and up. Even the old 220D geez!! that's too many years ago :(
I've never had the extra cash to plunk down.
This year I got the bug for an SLK.
My friend found out about me wanting a Benz.
He had an '00 SL500.
He sold it to me for at the dealer trade-in price!
I couldn't pass it up....
then I bought the '69 280S for a project..
but... I still want an SLK. :)

RE: Why did you buy a Mercedes Benz?

I had a 01 Jetta TDI, and I was never satisfied with the extras you could get or the refinement. I fell in love with the C230 Kompressor and since TDI values skyrocketed ( drove it for five years and 150K miles and sold it for half of what I paid for it new![:D] ) I figured what the heck. and have been happy ever since. Plus the dealership really caters to me. Gave me an E class for a loaner let me drive a brand new G wagen around and have detailed my car twice in a month for me. ( thats probably all now )

Because the 123 diesels and 126 S Class cars are unique, nothing like them were built by any anyone before or after.

RE: Why did you buy a Mercedes Benz?

my father is West German Mercedes Master Mechanic, and i was always exposed to MB's while growing up around his shop, that he had for 15 years in Ft. Myers, Fla........

so, i'v known for a LONG time that i find the w123 Coupe simply beautiful, and, at the time i decided this, they were "expensive rich customers cars" and not "for me"..........then, in 2000, my dad bought himself a '77 280 CE, white, AMG Wheels, in Nuernberg (after he moved back to Germany, with me), and i drove it all around, and totally fell in love, and KNEW i would get one of those someday...

but, back in ami-land, after my thouroughly rusted to nothing CRX blew a cylinder, and i needed to get a car again (ex-step-mother (mother of my brothers) buying), and i spotted "1985 Mercedes Diesel, Coupe, 1110 obo " in the "Shopper", which is the crappy free paper in our town ( Cape Coral Fla.), i KNEW what "kind" of car this was, ie, w123 Coupe (thats the only diesel coupe that MB made...(until nowadays, the CLK CDi), so, i went straight there, jumped up and down, and sat in, etc.....and told the guy the car was mine, and that i would be back in touch in 15 minutes.......i got her, for 550 after "stern" negotiations, from the ex-step-mother, who was my dad's "bossy ass secretary" in HIS shop.....

the car had been a yard car, for 3 years, and he "didnt know" what was wrong, other than that the huge battery was dead as hell.......

so, it was removed on a tow-truck, and brought to a former "competitor-collegue(friendly)" from my father, and he installed the new interstate battery, used brake booster, and cylinder, and then i drove her off, and she's mine ever since.....

pics in my profile/gallery, u know .....
