the reason i got mine.. i want a car thats big and comfortable.... a linclon town car is first to mind... but i wanted a car thats fast..... corvette comes to mind... so right there is a mercedes..... super fast luxury all in one, i mean take the new s class.. say an S600, very roomy, quiet inside, but it pulls like a sports car, come on 0-6 in around 4 seconds.... its fast enough for around here i would say!!!, and one more thing is they go on, and on, and on, and on..... did i get my point across?

First Benz was a 1982 300D, purchased in 1987 with about 50K miles. Sold it five years later with about 150K miles. I thought I was spending too much on maintenance, at about $1500/year. Big mistake!

Over the next nine years we plowed through two Honda Accords, a Dodge truck, a Ford minivan, two Subarus, two Volvos and two Mazdas, and a partridge and a pear tree. With the exception of the Volvos (and the partridge) they were soooo boring! Volvos were great drivers, but every little fit and finish item failed.

A 1999 SLK230 brought us back into the fold two years ago. We always wanted a convertible and decided not to wait until we retired to enjoy a nice ride. We were won over and soon replaced the Mazdas for a 2001 E320 wagon and a 1998 ML320.

This month, we traded the SLK and ML and purchased a 2003 CLK430. In our opinion, nothing comes close to a pre-owned Benz in terms of ride, safety and long term value. Just wish we figured this out ten years ago!

Haven't bought one yet but the reasons to buy are:

1. Life looks better through M-Benz window (on both sides)
2. Messerschmitt gun sight on a bonnet
3. Style goes in match with my Hugo Boss business suits
4. All technical and quality aspects that have been mentioned in that thread

IMO all other car brands are just cheaper or expensive variations of M-Benz, so you better off driving the original.

After driving a benz for a while i just can't get that same feeling. Every other car seems low-quality in a way. Even my friends bmw.

It all started the first time I saw the star on the hood. It was a 1974 450SL. Evere since, I have been dreaming of owning a Benz. Last December, I finally pulled the trigger on a 2000 E320. I sill would love to find a '74 SL and any 123 I could get my hands on.

I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship...

I got mine because I still remember the day my father brought his first (and subsequently only) MB home. It was 1977 and I was 6 years old. The car was a 1962 220 (an S, I think). Chocolate brown with tan MB tex interior. A fintail with the cool thermometer-style gauges. I remember how it made him feel, the sense of pride and accomplishment (my dad grew up dirt poor). I remember how the neighbors came over and reacted. He drove that car for two years, and sold it for more than he paid for it.

It made quite an impression on me, and I don't think I ever forgot it. From that point it was just a matter of time before I got mine.

I have been looking for a replacement for my 93 Volvo 240 and since Volvo has been specializing in merde production, I spent time over a few months at the auto graveyard looking at vehicles that had been in major collisions.

The majority of the Mercedes I checked had minimal passenger compartment intrusion despite horrendous external damage.

I've walked away from several major collisions where others did not, due to my choice of automobile.

I intend to contuinue that practice.

I wasn't even looking to buy when I stumbled across my 99 CLK, but the ad sounded too good to pass up. So I had to check it out- 1 owner, 25k miles, elderly owned-stored winters, paid $15,500. Absolutely flawless.

This is my first MB and definately won't be my last! I've driven Volkswagens since I turned 16 (now 21) and I probably will never be back in the VW department. The service and respect I get when I pull in to the dealership is bar-none.

My parents always drove them, I can't remember the makes and models but I remember oneof them was light blue with fins and the other was tan, two of their cars were involved in accidents (one side swiped by a drunk driver with our entire family in it, and the other rammed by a garbage trucks prongs coming out of a alley, Mum and sister in the car. My whole family is present and accounted for due to these fine vehicles, so I natually bought a few for myself. I just feel safe in them. And I my SL500 is a head turner
