RE: What new wheels fit older cars ?
Red alert, red alert.
Welcome to the forum.
While most WHEELS will fit, MBZ has played with lug bolts over time and you may have to get custom bolts made, which can run into the $15 range (EACH).
If you have 12M lug bolts then you can make it easier by making sure you buy wheels designed for the 12M bolts. I'm not sure what you have, but that's the first thing to check. Then -- generally speaking -- you'll just need a stock set of lug bolts from the vehicle whose wheels you're trying to fit to your car.
Check your current wheels for offset (usually stamped inside the wheel) and then you're pretty much off to the races. So long as you're within a few mm of the offset (say if yours are 40, you should be okay in the 37-43 range, unless you go wider...) you'll be in business.
I don't know of any kind of a guide or chart that actually maps this stuff out. Like anything else worth doing, it's just a bunch of painstaking work. I went to a LOT of trouble to mount newer E wheels on my older E, but I can't complain about the results.
Good luck and enjoy the ride,
