Good tires, not stabbing the trottle too much.

RE: question on 300se

Put a couple of bags of cat litter in both of the quarter panel pockets of the trunk in your car.

The W126 is fairly well distributed weight wise, and is relatively easy to control in a slide. However, it is RWD. Putting weight in the back helps gain much needed traction and increases track via the independently strung rear laying out.

The problem with these cars is getting them moving. It is not to difficult to turn, stop(love ABS), and drive with caution. They can get stuck in .5 inch of slush, however, if you have poor tread.

Get grippy all-season tires and put weight in the back. You shouldn't have any problems.

RE: question on 300se

Mine is murder on ice or snow-not enough weight over the drive wheels. However jzaroh's solution helps but beware!- if you lose traction with that extra weight so far back, the tail-out is much more violent and difficult to correct.Think old school Porsche 911s.
Incidently,i don't know what size bags of kitty litter you can obtain, but to make an appreciable difference you really need a couple of hundred kilos.
Make sure your tyre pressures are perfect as well-i run mine hard in the summer and back them off for the winter.
