Perhaps, you might tell us what years you're interested in?

That covers 4 different bodystyles. You'll have to narrow it down some.

I must say that the 123 series (240D) is an automobile that has "character". Something about it...very enjoyable!! It is reliable, durable and easy to fix/work on. Several examples have been on Ebay recently (check for rust).

Do a little research on the various model changes from 75 - 85. Good luck! Let us know.

You should read and post in the 201 and 123 forums for more info.

Having owned a number of Mercedes for 30+ years, the most trouble free was a 1980 240D. It is one of those cars "I wish I had kept". The 123 body is a classic look, and the 4 cylinder diesel was just so simple. Mechanically, it was one of their most reliable models. One tip, I would try to get a 4-speed manual. With the low horsepower opf the engine, it will give you more zip on takeoff.

As an owner of one, I chose a '95 E300 diesel - cheaper than the 96-03 body style, still looks great, very reliable, and an excellent highway cruiser. I drive 45k miles a year on highways - this car is perfect.
