Not much I just looked in the Kelly Blue Book (Private Party Seller)and it was priced at $850 for a fair rating. In my opinion your better off keeping that's a very nice car.

Is the car clean? Shiny Paint-good interior etc? If so, put a battery in it-fix the thermostat and ask $3995 for it. I agree with the other writer-KBB and Nada is probably under a grand. But with the price of gas being what it is even dogged out 240D's have been bringing $1000 to $1500 at the local auction. You can always go down on price but never up.
Good Luck!

Spend a small amount of time detailing it and cleaning it up. Make it look nice.

Put a new battery and a thermostat in it. This is less than an hours work for a novice.

Ask $2200 for it if it's very clean, no rips or tears in the MBTex or the carpet, the body is straight and clean with no rust, and -- if the tires are at least 50% and the brakes have plenty of life left too.

Then take the first offer over $1600.

If "NO" to any of the above questions - knock $500 off and take the first $1100.

Post some pictures here - maybe we can be of some help too ( And we can be suckers for a nice older 300 ).[:D]

RE: 1985 300D Worth?

Diesel cars have been selling incredibly well lately. Lots of people have been looking for them since Hurricane Katrina bumped gas prices to over $3/gal.

Just check eBay completed listings to get an idea.

Here's some example:
1983 MERCEDES 300D DIESEL W123 BODY $1,260.00 (and it looks like a POS)
1985 Mercedes Diesel Gray Oklahoma Car 300D $4,749.00

I just picked up my 1981 240D (309,000 miles) for $2700, and it was the 7th or 8th one that I looked at here in the Denver metro area. While looking, just noticed that an '82 240D went for $5,000 on eBay.

BTW -- congrats on the forthcoming new arrival [:)]
