Transmision E320 CDI

My 2005 E320 CDI had transmission lock in low gear at 12,000 miles. Mercedes had to replace the entire transmission. At 16,000 it locked in high only requiring work? At 20,000 miles locked in neutral and couldn't be repaired. Dealer is now putting in a new entire transmission with a redesigned converter?I'm on my third transmission at 20,000 miles. Anyone else know of these problems

RE: Transmision E320 CDI

First time I've heard it in a new CDI.

I've heard of problems that put the transmission in "limp" mode for other models, especially ML's. Perhaps something is wrong with the controller circuitry.

Mine has 38,700 miles with no problems in the transmission. I have it in for a trunk leak (look by the spare tire) and front lower control arms (shimmy at 60-65 mph). Otherwise, occasional gremlins in the remote window closer function and the radio turns itself on on very hot days.

RE: Transmision E320 CDI

strange this is the first time ive hurd of this problem on an E class ive had an E320 CDI 2002 model done 44K without no problems how ever the car is sh*T on rainy conditions it has no traction it always wheel spins and once i nearly lost the back end... without the traction control the car cant drive in the rain it had 16's but i was gona upgrade to 18's or 19's to try n get rid of the problem but then decided to get a C32 which has very good traction and better handling as well.

eisbell:
What part of the world are you located-- any unusual environmental influences or hard driving conditions?

Where is your dealership-- any chance they're just horribly inept or using your car for practice? ?(joke)
